I am excited to be part of the Beechwood family.  I began my educational career as a teacher and coach at Gilbert High School.  I moved into administration at Lexington Middle School as an administrative assistant and later became an assistant principal at Pleasant Hill Middle School.  I earned a Bachelor of Arts in History from Newberry College, a Master of Arts in Teaching (Social Studies) from the University of South Carolina, and a Master of Education in Educational Administration from USC.  Also, I have an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family of five and our new golden-doodle puppy.  My hobbies include officiating high school sports, coaching my children’s basketball and baseball teams, attending USC and Newberry College sporting events, and camping.  My family and I are also very active in our local church where I teach a young adult Sunday school class and participate in a men’s group known as REAL. My wife and I also volunteer with the youth and children’s ministries.  I can be reached at jmills@lexington1.net.
