I am originally from Lexington and began teaching middle school in 2011. This year I will be teaching 8th Grade PreAlgebra and Algebra 1. I received my B.A. in Middle Level Education with concentrations in mathematics and Social Studies from Columbia College. I then went on to complete my Master’s of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. I previously taught at Pleasant Hill Middle School for six years in both seventh and eighth grade. My husband and I have two children, Jaid and Jaxon. I’m Jaya Gantt and I teach Pre-Algebra & Algebra I Honors at BMS. I am from Batesburg-Leesville, SC. I received my B.A. in Middle-Level Education with concentrations in mathematics and English from the University of South Carolina and my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction- Leadership from Liberty University. I have been teaching math since 2005, first in Florida, and now in South Carolina, although I am originally from New Jersey. I received my degree from Florida Atlantic University in education, and then my wife and I went back for our master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix. I love teaching math. Since it is not known as the most “fun” subject, I try to make it as interesting as possible and make each class educational and fun! When not at work, I enjoy time with my wife and son. My name is Leah Nadorff, and I teach science and Algebra 1 at BMS. I am originally from Hartsville, SC but moved to Columbia 11 years ago to go to Columbia College and have lived here since. I am highly qualified in middle level math and science. I taught math and science at Blythewood Middle School before coming to Lexington One. This will be my seventh year teaching middle school, and I am looking forward to having a fabulous year. I have been married to my husband for five years and have two sweet children, Isaac and Katherine. In my limited free time, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes, listening to music, and taking my kids to the park to play. Since graduating from USC Aiken in 2012, I have been teaching middle school science, first in Batesburg-Leesville Middle School and now in Lexington One. I have since completed my master’s degree in Educational Technology from USCA and continue to teach 8th Grade science at BMS. In addition to my classroom role, I am also a coach for the robotics club. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy video games and tinkering with computers. I have been teaching since 2013, and my experience includes serving students in grades six through eight in Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. I have been teaching since 2004. I taught ELA at White Knoll Middle and ELA and social studies at Carolina Springs Middle prior to moving to Beechwood. It is great to be a part of the eighth-grade team at Beechwood Middle School! I am a Lexington native and a graduate of Lexington High School. I attended the University of South Carolina where I received a bachelor’s degree in history. After spending time in another field I went back to school and received my bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of South Carolina – Aiken. Most recently, I earned a Masters of Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. I am certified in elementary and high school level social studies and am National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Adolescence & Young Adulthood/Social Studies certified. I have also earned endorsements in Advanced Placement US History, Gifted and Talented, and Teaching Children of Poverty. After 21 years of teaching at Lexington High School, I decided to make the change to middle school, and I am loving every minute of it! I am also an eighth-grade team leader at Beechwood. I live in Lexington with my husband and our four children. While my children and their various activities take up most of my spare time, I find time to attend sporting events and concerts and watch Live PD (it’s my guilty pleasure!). Go Bengals!! I am originally from Cayce, South Carolina, and have lived in SC my entire life. I graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and went on to graduate from Presbyterian College. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies and played baseball for four years. I recently earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from Fort Hays State. I also have Gifted and Talented Endorsement. I started my teaching career right out of college at W. Wyman King Academy in 2002. I have been employed in Lexington One since 2013. I have enjoyed working at White Knoll High School, and now as a Bengal, here at Beechwood Middle. Along with teaching, I enjoy watching my students show off their skills on the field and on the stage.
