Melanie Wells

ELA

I have been teaching since 2011, and I am excited to be at Beechwood! I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education from USC and my master’s in education from the American College of Education.  I earned my Masters +30 in literacy. I am Elementary and Middle-Level ELA certified. I am married and have two young sons, two rescue dogs, and a horse. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, and being outdoors.  I am so excited to be at Beechwood this year! mwells@lexington1.net 


Carson Haycox

ELA

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Middle Level Education from the University of South Carolina. I am also endorsed in Gifted and Talented education. I am excited to be teaching eighth grade English Language Arts and English 1 Honors. Alongside teaching, I am the Spirit Cheerleading Coach for BMS. Allison Turner

ELA

I received my Bachelor of Arts in Middle Level Education from Coastal Carolina University. I also have my Masters of Education in International Education Administration from Endicott College. I recently moved back to South Carolina after living abroad for two years. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors, hanging out at the lake or in the mountains and spending time with family and friends. Halee Munsch

Math

I am originally from Lexington and began teaching middle school in 2011.  This year I will be teaching 8th Grade PreAlgebra and Algebra 1. I received my B.A. in Middle Level Education with concentrations in mathematics and Social Studies from Columbia College. I then went on to complete my Master’s of Education in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. I previously taught at Pleasant Hill Middle School for six years in both seventh and eighth grade. My husband and I have two children, Jaid and Jaxon. In my free time I enjoy reading, traveling, spending time with my husband and kids, and playing with our Boston Terrier, Minnie. Jaya Gantt

Math

I’m Jaya Gantt and I teach Pre-Algebra & Algebra I Honors at BMS. I am from Batesburg-Leesville, SC. I received my B.A. in Middle-Level Education with concentrations in mathematics and English from the University of South Carolina and my M.Ed. in Curriculum & Instruction- Leadership from Liberty University. I am entering my third year of teaching. In addition to teaching, I am the assistant competition cheer and basketball coach here at Beechwood Middle School and the varsity jump coach for track at Lexington High School. Kari Burnett

Math

I am very excited about the upcoming year at Beechwood Middle School! I grew up in Michigan and moved to South Carolina after graduating from Central Michigan University in 2011. I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, majoring in mathematics. I furthered my education with a Master of Education in Educational Leadership from CMU. My husband, Patrick Burnett, teaches at Meadow Glen Middle School and coaches football at River Bluff High School. Leah Nadorff

Science

My name is Leah Nadorff, and I teach science and Algebra 1 at BMS. I am originally from Hartsville, SC but moved to Columbia 11 years ago to go to Columbia College and have lived here since.  I am highly qualified in middle level math and science. I taught math and science at Blythewood Middle School before coming to Lexington One. This will be my seventh year teaching middle school, and I am looking forward to having a fabulous year.  I have been married to my husband for five years and have two sweet children, Isaac and Katherine. In my limited free time, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes, listening to music, and taking my kids to the park to play. Michael Roever

Science

Since graduating from USC Aiken in 2012, I have been teaching middle school science, first in Batesburg-Leesville Middle School and now in Lexington One. I have since completed my master’s degree in Educational Technology from USCA and continue to teach 8th Grade science at BMS. In addition to my classroom role, I am also a coach for the robotics club. When I’m not teaching, I enjoy video games and tinkering with computers. Lauren Meyers

Science

I have been teaching since 2013, and my experience includes serving students in grades six through eight in Tennessee, Georgia, and South Carolina. I have a master’s in teaching and have taught math, science, social studies, and language arts; however, my heart now lies in the world of science! I am also a support teacher for student council here at Beechwood. My interests include playing video games and volleyball, eating, and focusing on family. Jason McCullough

Social Studies

I have been teaching since 2004.  I taught ELA at White Knoll Middle and ELA and social studies at Carolina Springs Middle prior to moving to Beechwood.  I have undergraduate degrees in history and English and a graduate degree in secondary leadership, all from the University of South Carolina.  I am also endorsed in Gifted and Talented Education. I am originally from “across the river” in Richland County, where I attended Richland Northeast High School. Jennifer Garrick

Social Studies

It is great to be a part of the eighth-grade team at Beechwood Middle School!  I am a Lexington native and a graduate of Lexington High School. I attended the University of South Carolina where I received a bachelor’s degree in history.  After spending time in another field I went back to school and received my bachelor’s degree in secondary education from the University of South Carolina – Aiken. Most recently, I earned a Masters of Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. I am certified in elementary and high school level social studies and am National Board for Professional Teaching Standards Adolescence & Young Adulthood/Social Studies certified.  I have also earned endorsements in Advanced Placement US History, Gifted and Talented, and Teaching Children of Poverty. After 21 years of teaching at Lexington High School, I decided to make the change to middle school, and I am loving every minute of it! I am also an eighth-grade team leader at Beechwood.  I live in Lexington with my husband and our four children.  While my children and their various activities take up most of my spare time, I find time to attend sporting events and concerts and watch Live PD (it’s my guilty pleasure!).  Go Bengals!! Mark Dudley

Social Studies

I am originally from Cayce, South Carolina, and have lived in SC my entire life. I graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and went on to graduate from Presbyterian College. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Social Studies and played baseball for four years. I recently earned my master’s degree in educational leadership from Fort Hays State. I also have Gifted and Talented Endorsement. I started my teaching career right out of college at W. Wyman King Academy in 2002. I have been employed in Lexington One since 2013. I have enjoyed working at White Knoll High School, and now as a Bengal, here at Beechwood Middle. Along with teaching, I enjoy watching my students show off their skills on the field and on the stage. When I am not on campus, I enjoy watching college football, running, and spending time with my beautiful wife, Mary, who is also a teacher in Lexington One.
