I am very excited about the 2019-2020 school year at Beechwood Middle School, and I look forward to working with you and your child to provide the best possible learning experience.  I have six years of teaching experience. I taught four years in Tennessee, one year in preschool and three years in 7th-grade ELA. I moved to SC after marrying my husband in 2017. I taught 6th-grade math for two years at Crossroads Intermediate School in Irmo before coming to Beechwood this year! I have a teacher’s certificate for elementary education and middle-level mathematics. I have a South Carolina endorsement to teach gifted and talented students.  I earned an undergraduate degree in elementary education with a minor in mathematics from Tennessee Wesleyan University. I earned this degree because of a dual athletic scholarship in basketball and cross country. I will be the girls’ basketball coach here at Beechwood. Family is very important to me. Over the summer, I gave birth to my daughter, Caroline. I enjoy spending every second I can with her and the rest of my family. Aside from family, my two major passions are teaching and coaching. I love teaching math, staying active, and watching sports! I can be reached at cnewton@lexington1.net

Math & Pre-Algebra

I have been teaching math since 2005, first in Florida and now in South Carolina although I am originally from New Jersey. I received my degree from Florida Atlantic University in education, and then my wife and I went back for our master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix.  I love teaching math. Since it is not known as the most “fun” subject, I try to make it as interesting as possible and make each class educational and fun! When not at work, I enjoy time with my wife and son. I am an avid football fan (Gators for college and JETS for pro) but also enjoy watching movies, playing games, and reading. wpolascak@lexington1.net

In 2013, I received my master’s in divergent learning from Columbia College.

My husband, Steven, and I have two children, Weston and Nora.  They keep us very busy with dance, golf, and soccer. In my spare time, I love to read, shop on Amazon, and spend time with my family and friends. svickers@lexington1.net
